Matchdays ("we", "our", "us") is a family sports scheduling application. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal data when you use our app.

2. Data We Collect

Account data:

  Your name and mobile phone number

  Used to create your account and verify identity

Family data:

  Names and dates of birth of children you add

  Names and phone numbers of other family members

  Used solely for scheduling and notifications

Sports and fixture data:

  Club names, fixture dates, times and venues

  Used to build and display your family calendar

Usage data:

  App activity logs for debugging and improvement

  WhatsApp message content forwarded to our bot

  Used to parse fixture information automatically

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide the Matchdays scheduling service

• Detect scheduling conflicts between family members

• Send reminders and notifications via WhatsApp

• Parse fixture information from messages and PDFs you forward

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Children's Data

Matchdays is used by parents and guardians to manage their children's sports schedules. Children do not directly use the app or create accounts. Children's data (name, date of birth, sports activities) is entered by a parent or guardian and is used solely for scheduling purposes within your family group.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

6. Data Sharing

We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to provide the service:

Google Firebase — database and authentication

Meta (WhatsApp) — message delivery and notifications

Anthropic — AI processing of fixture messages and PDFs

Twilio — phone number services

All third parties are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you

• Correct inaccurate data

• Request deletion of your data

• Object to processing of your data

• Data portability

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days. Sports fixture data may be retained in anonymised form for service improvement.

9. WhatsApp Messages

When you forward WhatsApp messages to our Matchdays bot, the content of those messages is processed by our AI system (Anthropic Claude) to extract fixture information. Message content is not stored permanently — only the extracted fixture data (date, time, venue, sport) is saved to your calendar.

10. Cookies and Analytics

The Matchdays app does not use cookies. We do not use third-party analytics services.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email.
